Located in the middle of San Jose, California,

The Winchester Mystery House is the former

home of Sarah Winchester, the widow of

the heir to the Winchester Rifle Co. fortune.

Being extremely rich as well as superstitious,

Sarah was convinced by a psychic that the

ghosts of the victims of the Winchester rifles

were out to kill her.  She believed they had

already killed her husband and daughter.

Sarah was told that in order to stay alive, she

must continuously build her house to fool the

ghosts.  For 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,

for 38 years, construction workers continuously

built, took down, then rebuilt the house again.

Winchester Mystery House is the result of this

labor.
